O-CEI Horizon Continues the Standardisation Legacy of the aerOS Project

We are proud to announce that, as of October 1st, O-CEI Horizon has officially taken over the outstanding standardisation work initiated by the our Project. This effort will continue under the ongoing ISO/IEC JTC1/SC41 standardisation activities, with O-CEI Horizon leading the Preliminary Working Item JTC1-22 Architecture.

Several aerOS partners — including Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), NCSR “DEMOKRITOS”, Innovalia Association, FIWARE Foundation, Telefónica Innovación Digital, have joined the O-CEI Horizon consortium. Their participation ensures continuity and strengthens our shared commitment to standardisation, interoperability, security, connectivity, and trust.

Today, during the final event of the aerOS project, our partners from Atos IT Solutions and Services Iberia, S.L. and Trialog will deliver a presentation on the ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 41 Internet of Things and Digital Twin standard — further highlighting the collaborative spirit and shared vision between aerOS and O-CEI Horizon.

By building on the achievements of aerOS, O-CEI Horizon will continue to contribute to international alignment in IoT and Digital Twin technologies, paving the way for a more connected, secure, and interoperable digital ecosystem.

aerOS Pilot 4: Smart edge services for the Port Continuum – Final Video

This video describes Pilot 4 of Horizon Europe’s funded project aerOS, focusing on Smart edge services for the Port Continuum. This pilot explores two important and practical use cases for smart maritime container terminals: (1) Predictive Maintenance of Container Handling Equipment such as Ship to Shore Cranes and Straddle Carriers using machine learning at the edge; (2) Computer Vision for automatically detecting container damages or broken container seals in real time, while containers are unloaded from ships. EUROGATE Container Terminal Limassol, serving as the industrial partner of the pilot, have joined forces with PRODEVELOP and the Cyprus University of Technology, both bringing valuable experience and knowledge for developing edge technology and AI solutions through the capabilities offered by aerOS.
