Fotini Setaki from Cosmote presented “Energy Efficient, Health Safe & Sustainable Smart Buildings”, during “Giving Energy an Edge: Showcasing the Edge to Cloud Continuum in Energy,” event by EuCLoudEdgeIoT which took place on November 10th.

The Energy Infoday that took place on Friday 10th November, 2023, at 10:00 (CET), brought together over 100 attendees, including industry experts, innovators, researchers, developers, SMEs, start-ups and energy company stakeholders to discuss the latest trends and technologies shaping the future of energy and innovations of the Cloud-Edge-IoT Continuum in Energy sector. We are very thankful for every participant and want to express our special gratitude to all speakers, panellists, open calls and use case representatives for their diverse input as well as adding depth to the conversations that followed.

The Infoday kicked off by exploring the general landscape of SME innovation in the Grid Edge sector, spotlighting the EU CEI MetaOS projects. This broad view was further complimented by a presentation showcasing a panoramic view of various European project clusters working on transforming and digitising the energy sector.

After a first overview of the current state of innovation, those inputs were reflected and augmented by gathering valuable inputs on the current transition challenges on topics such as energy infrastructure, adaptability, and electrification of heat and mobility. During a panel discussion, they were critically analysed from an overarching, institutional and energy distributor perspective, which was shared as well as contrasted by the point of view of energy start-ups.

aerOS paper entitled “A novel approach to self-capabilities in IoT industrial automation computing continuum” was presented during WF-IoT 2023! The 2023 IEEE 9th World Forum on Internet of Things (WF-IoT 2023) brings the latest from the research and academic community. It included a broad program of papers and presentations on the latest technology developments and innovations in the many fields and disciplines that drive the utility and vitality of IoT solutions and applications. After extensive peer review, the best of the proposals were selected for the conference program, which included technical papers, tutorials workshops and industry sessions designed specifically to advance technologies, end to end solutions, systems and infrastructure, processes, and operating methods, that are contributing to how IoT can reshape the world and overcome the challenges we face, so that all individuals can participate in and enjoy life to the fullest.

Harilaos Koumaras from NCSR DEMOKRITOS, aerOS Technical Manager presented “aerOS: A Meta Operating System for the IoT-Edge-Cloud Continuum” during International Conference on Internet of Things (ICIOT), 2023.
The conference aim was to provide an outstanding opportunity for both academic and industrial communities to share their knowledge on new trends and challenges in emerging technologies and progress in standards on topics relevant to todays fast moving technology trends into the Internet of Things. It also provided a platform for the discussion of new results in the field of Internet of things. The Conference had different themes for each day and each theme contains different thought-provoking sessions.

EUCloudEdgeIoT’s – “Market and Sectors” Workshop

aerOS project participated at the EUCloudEdgeIoT’s – Task Force 5 “Market and Sectors” Workshop. It was an online workshop where all related partners presented fundamental insights about their projects. Also, at this workshop Anastasios Gogos presented the basic elements of our Athens use case

aerOS project in TRA 2022 Conference

Ignacio Lacalle from UPV presented aerOS project in the TRA 2022 at the stand of the European Commission. The 2022 TRA version took place in Lisbon, Portugal. TRA, the Transport Research Arena, is the largest European research and technology conference on transport and mobility. TRA is the foremost European transport event that covers all transport modes and all aspects of mobility. In 2022, TRA takes place in Lisbon, Portugal. Themed “Moving together – reimagining mobility worldwide”, TRA2022 brings together experts from around the world to discuss the newest innovations and future of mobility and transport, building also on the Portuguese historical legacy and links to overseas transport professionals. Through the development of innovative solutions, TRA Lisbon 2022 aims for a more efficient, safer, carbon-free, inclusive, and sustainable transport in all its modes. IEEE ICUMT 2022 conference

Carlos E. Palau Salvador, from Universitat Politècnica de València, aerOS Project coordinator, presented on October 11th at IEEE ICUMT 2022 conference the NGIoT approach developed in the aerOS Project. More information available here:

ICUMT is an IEEE (Spanish Section) technically co-sponsored (approval pending) premier an annual international congress providing an open forum for researchers, engineers, network planners and service providers targeted, on newly emerging algorithms, systems, standards, services, and applications, bringing together leading international players in telecommunications, control systems, automation and robotics. The event is positioned as a major international annual congress for the presentation of original results achieved from fundamental as well as applied research and engineering works. Following the success of the previous events normally attracting around 100 participants from both academia and industry, ICUMT 2022 is planned as a three-day event offering a number of plenary sessions, technical sessions, and specialized workshops.
