aerOS project in TRA 2022 Conference

Ignacio Lacalle from UPV presented aerOS project in the TRA 2022 at the stand of the European Commission. The 2022 TRA version took place in Lisbon, Portugal. TRA, the Transport Research Arena, is the largest European research and technology conference on transport and mobility. TRA is the foremost European transport event that covers all transport modes and all aspects of mobility. In 2022, TRA takes place in Lisbon, Portugal. Themed “Moving together – reimagining mobility worldwide”, TRA2022 brings together experts from around the world to discuss the newest innovations and future of mobility and transport, building also on the Portuguese historical legacy and links to overseas transport professionals. Through the development of innovative solutions, TRA Lisbon 2022 aims for a more efficient, safer, carbon-free, inclusive, and sustainable transport in all its modes. aerOS project announced at NCSRD website

aerOS project has been announced at NCSR “DEMOKRITOS” website. You may find the the press release and learn more about the project and NCSRD’s role here: https://www.iit.demokritos.gr/projects/autonomous-scalable-trustworthy-intelligent-european-meta-operating-system-for-the-iot-edge-cloud-continuum/

“The UPV leads a European project for the development of a meta operating system with artificial intelligence and distributed computing” Article

The main objective of aerOS, a research project funded by the European Union through its Horizon Europe program and led by the Universitat Politècnica de València, is the implementation of a meta operating system focused on ease of use that allows the use of completely transparent way of computing resources closest to the source of data generation and the execution of applications and services in the most effective and efficient way possible. aerOS Project – Market Analysis Survey

The following survey is carried out by aerOS (Autonomous, scalablE, tRustworthy, intelligent European meta Operating System for the IoT edge-cloud continuum), a European research project (Horizon Europe CL4-2021-DATA-01-05) running for 3 years which aims at transparently utilising the resources on the edge-to-cloud computing continuum for enabling applications in an effective manner while incorporating multiple services. The overarching goal of aerOS is to design and build a virtualised, platform-agnostic meta operating system for the IoT edge-cloud continuum. If you wish to know more, please visit: aeros-project.eu – aerOS project

The questionnaire is functional to the development of the Task 2.1 “State of the Art and Market Analysis”, and it is also aimed at collecting feedbacks on all internal and external factors that may influence the aerOS project during its development and after its conclusion. The result of this questionnaire will flow into Deliverable 2.1, Chapter 4.

This Web-survey is organised on behalf of the aerOS project. The questions in this survey are anonymous. It will not be possible to identify you in any way. Also the final results of this survey, as well as any communication surrounding this survey, will not contain personal data in any identifiable way. All the answers you provide anonymously are saved on the site https://aeros-project.limesurvey.net/461219?lang=en and will be deleted no later than 31.12.2022. (The privacy policy is published on the site aeros-project.limesurvey.net ) After the cancellation of the answers from the site aeros-project.limesurvey.net, only the statistical results of the survey will be kept.

All current privacy legislation is respected and you can exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure and objection by emailing ad partner DPO or somebody in your organisation that will deal with these issues if you have no DPO.

IEEE ICUMT 2022 conference

Carlos E. Palau Salvador, from Universitat Politècnica de València, aerOS Project coordinator, presented on October 11th at IEEE ICUMT 2022 conference the NGIoT approach developed in the aerOS Project. More information available here: https://icumt.info/2022/keynotes

ICUMT is an IEEE (Spanish Section) technically co-sponsored (approval pending) premier an annual international congress providing an open forum for researchers, engineers, network planners and service providers targeted, on newly emerging algorithms, systems, standards, services, and applications, bringing together leading international players in telecommunications, control systems, automation and robotics. The event is positioned as a major international annual congress for the presentation of original results achieved from fundamental as well as applied research and engineering works. Following the success of the previous events normally attracting around 100 participants from both academia and industry, ICUMT 2022 is planned as a three-day event offering a number of plenary sessions, technical sessions, and specialized workshops.

“Future European platforms for the Edge: Meta Operating Systems” presentation during IoT Week 2022

Ignacio Lacalle from UPV presented “Future European platforms for the Edge: Meta Operating Systems” during IoT – Week 2002  which took place on 22 June 2022, in Dublin, Ireland.

The call topic “Future European platforms for the Edge: Meta Operating Systems” targeted for the next generation of higher-level (meta) operating systems for the smart IoT with strong computing capacity at the edge, embedded in a computing continuum from IoT-to-edge-to-cloud. Horizon Europe Cluster 4 projects are launched to strengthen European supply and value chains in cloud to edge computing by integrating relevant elements of computing, connectivity, IoT, AI and cybersecurity. Selected projects will exploit new computing and virtualisation paradigms, building on established cloud concepts and targeting down-scaling application-agnostic computing principles to a novel edge infrastructure. Central to many approaches is the objective to include edge virtualisation by applying containers process that delivers service and applications to the edge computing of the network. Meta-OS project are expected to innovate by exploiting network functions such as cloud/fog communication with substantial integration of 5G features and network virtualization.
